Founder & Licensed Professional Counselor

Kimberly McGowan is a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of SELERA COUNSELING SERVICES. Born in Centreville, Mississippi, she is deeply committed to supporting the emotional well-being of individuals, couples, and families across the Mississippi community. Her passion for helping others led her to create a counseling practice focused on compassion, understanding, and meaningful personal growth.

Kimberly earned her undergraduate degrees from The University of Southern Mississippi, where she studied Child and Family Studies and English Literature, building a strong foundation in human development, family dynamics, and communication. She later completed her graduate studies at William Carey University, specializing in Counseling and Psychology, where she further developed her clinical knowledge and dedication to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges.

She works with children, adolescents, adults, and couples facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions. Kimberly’s therapeutic approach is compassionate, collaborative, and personalized to meet each client’s unique needs and experiences.

Her work integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and somatic approaches, helping clients understand their thoughts, regulate emotions, and build healthier patterns in their lives. Kimberly believes that healing happens when people feel safe, heard, and empowered to explore their experiences and create meaningful change.

Through SELERA COUNSELING SERVICES, she strives to foster a supportive environment where clients can reconnect with their strengths, process difficult experiences, and move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and hope.
